What is clinical hypnotherapy?

After your Clinical Hypnotherapy Session

Most patients feel refreshed with renewed energy and confidence immediately after a clinical hypnotherapy session. Of course if you are processing difficult emotional problems you may also feel a little tired and thoughtful. Your clinical hypnotherapist will generally provide you with some simple tasks for exercise at home. For example if you goal is weight management you may be invited to invite guests to a health food dinner party. Exercise at home is the process of making the skills you acquire during your clinical hypnotherapy session part of your everyday life.

How many sessions do I need?

Clinical Hypnotherapy is called a brief strategic therapy. This means that many conditions and patients will experience improvement after just two or three sessions. Complicated and chronic conditions will require more sessions. Your clinical hypnotherapist will help you to establish a therapeutic goal during the first session. The number of sessions will depend on the type of condition, the complexity of your situation and how committed you are to working towards therapeutic change.

How does it feel like to be in hypnotic?

Clinical hypnosis uses naturally occurring hypnotic states such as day-dreaming and relaxing meditation for therapeutic purpose. This means that the clinical hypnotherapy session is comfortable, relaxing and most patients leave with a sense of well-being.

Although clinical hypnosis is very relaxing, you will not fall asleep. You will also be able to open your eyes at any time you wish. In this way you are always in control and engaged in the therapeutic process. Your clinical hypnotherapist will generally teach you how to use clinical hypnosis for yourself through a method called self hypnosis.
